During the 75th Foundation Day of Gopabandhu Ayurveda College, President Droupadi Murmu called for extensive research into Ayurveda to unlock its potential in treating various diseases. She emphasized the importance of scientific validation, stating, “Research builds trust, and trust widens acceptance.”
Highlighting the rich traditional knowledge of her Santali community and other tribal groups, she expressed concern that many indigenous healing methods are vanishing. She urged students to explore these practices, research their scientific basis, and ensure their preservation.
The President also drew attention to Odisha’s valuable palm leaf manuscripts, which contain ancient insights into Ayurveda and healing methods. These texts, preserved at the State Museum and in private collections, could hold answers to many medical challenges. She said, “Your efforts can make these hidden treasures beneficial for society.”
Murmu also spoke about the global appeal of yoga and Ayurveda, encouraging people to embrace a balanced lifestyle. She added, “Be Yoga Yukta to remain Roga Mukta,” underscoring how yoga can help prevent diseases.
The event, attended by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and other officials, was a call to action for students to take pride in India’s traditional wisdom and ensure its relevance in modern medicine.
